 Important Update (April 12, 2013)

					 Kay
Hester has said she collected a little over $4,000.00 from
the Silent Auction. A big wonderful "THANK YOU", Kay and
thanks to all of the classmates for keeping this worthwhile
					activity
					in front of the high
					school administrators.
There's
still time to contact Kay Hester to donate items for the
Silent Auction at the reunion!  This effort will allow
our class to continue to donate books to the R E Lee Library
in the name of recently departed classmates.

The Texas State Historical Commission has
designated Robert E. Lee High School as a state historical landmark.
Both the 1928 original main building and the two wings that were
added in 1937 are included in the designation. This means that REL
will be listed in the state register of historic places and that a
state historical marker will be placed in front of the building. It
has been a long process that has been in the works for about two
years, and this is just the beginning of another phase. When the
marker is cast and delivered to the Baytown Historical Preservation
Association ("BHPA"), a time will be set for the dedication of the
marker and a reception to celebrate this great honor. Hopefully,
there will be a huge crowd of Ganders to help us celebrate.
			In
the meantime, however, we must move quickly to get donations to
cover the $1,500 cost of the marker. The BHPA will be accepting
donations from individuals and, hopefully, from graduating classes,
as well. Donations in excess of the cost of the marker will go
toward the reception. Any remaining money will be kept in a
permanent marker fund to help defray costs of future marker
			projects.
Please send checks to:
			Baytown Historical Preservation Association
			PO Box 1244
			Baytown, Texas 77522-1244

Make checks out to BHPA, note it is for
the Lee Marker Fund, and send with this form.

By all accounts the 45th Reunion was a success and
classmates had a great time.  The food was good, the music timely,
Kelly Rushing made a great Master of Ceremonies and we all got to renew
		old friendships.
